Family Infant Toddler Program Eligibility Determination:
Any child under the age of three who is a resident of New Mexico may be eligible under one of the following categories:


Developmental Delay: A delay in development of 25 percent in one or more areas, including motor, language, cognitive, sensory, adaptive or social-emotional development.
Established Condition: A diagnosed medical condition (such as Down's Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorders) that has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. (more)
At Risk - Biological/Medical: A diagnosed medical condition (such as prematurity, low birth weight, Chronic Otitis Media) that may produce developmental delay in some children. (more)
At Risk - Environmental: Environments that pose a substantial threat to development, including chronic abuse of drugs or alcohol, child abuse, domestic violence, or developmental or psychiatric disability in a caregiver.

Who can Refer a Child? - Anyone who has a concern about a child's development may make a referral. This includes parents, guardians, foster parents, family members or professionals and childcare providers, or others who have contact with the child.

Who will contact the family? - A service coordinator (case manager) will meet with the family and inform them about early intervention. If the family agrees to participate, the service coordinator will help arrange a comprehensive developmental evaluation.
