Using This Site
Accessibility Page
This site has been designed to be accessible to the widest variety of visitors, especially individuals with disabilities. To do this, the DDSD Web Site Redesign Team has attempted to follow both the Section 508 guidelines and the Web Accessibility Initiative Guidelines provided by the World Wide Web Consortium. Additionally, style sheet positioning instead of tables is used whenever possible to present the information in a more friendly environment for accessibility purposes. People using Assistive Technology, as well as people using newer technology (such as cell phones and PDAs), will find this helpful when visiting our site. The Department of Health - Developmental Disabilities Supports Division is dedicated to providing the highest quality web site possible. This effort has been specifically focused on providing an attractive, accessible, and usable site for all visitors. If you find you have any difficulty accessing any part of this site or would like to receive this information in an alternative format, please contact the NM Department of Health Webmaster.

World Wide Web Consortium
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) by offering a forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding to lead the Web to its full potential. www.w3.org/WAI/

Section 508
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. The Web-based Intranet and Internet Information and Applications (1194.22) explains that a web site will be in compliance with the 508 standards if it meets paragraphs (a) through (p) of Section 1194.22. It should be noted that Assistive Technologies, such as screen readers, are complex programs that may require extensive experience to set up correctly and use (more).
