Infectious Disease Epidemiology

The Infectious Disease Epidemiology Bureau (IDEB) is part of the Epidemiology and Response Division of the New Mexico Department of Health. The mission of IDEB is to protect the public from infectious diseases by maintaining a responsive and high quality surveillance system that informs and guides public health practice, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of data.

The responsibilities of the IDEB include the following:

  1. To serve as the lead agency within the State of New Mexico for the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of infectious disease data;

  2. To assure that appropriate public health interventions are conducted for notifiable infectious disease cases, clusters and outbreaks.
