2007 DDSD Statewide Awards
The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) honored the following people and agencies for demonstrating excellence in Meaningful Day services.  Awards were given in the areas of Best Employer and Employee, Individual Accomplishment, Professional Achievement, Provider Excellence, and Best Community Membership practices.

Employee of The Year: David Parsons

Nothing has given David Parsons greater pride than working at Pizzeria Uno. He is part of the team at Pizzeria Uno/Chicago Bar and Grill in Las Cruces.

David has worked at Uno’s for over seven years, washing dishes and pizza pans. David’s greatest strength is he never gets rattled and maintains a steady work pace. David’s employers greatly appreciate having him cover the noon hour rush. David filled this position which had frequently been vacant in the past. The owner says, “It’s nice to know we’re going to have someone we can depend on because David never misses work.”

“This job and the staff at Uno’s have allowed David to see and be things he never thought possible”, said Tom Krieger, Tresco’s Supported Employment Supervisor, who has known David for 25 years. “What some may consider just a job, David considers a launching pad for more exploration and self-realization.”
