2007 DDSD Statewide Awards
The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) honored the following people and agencies for demonstrating excellence in Meaningful Day services.  Awards were given in the areas of Best Employer and Employee, Individual Accomplishment, Professional Achievement, Provider Excellence, and Best Community Membership practices.

Christine Hurd

2007 ddsd statewide directors meeting HONARABLE MENTION CERTIFICATE RECIPIENTS

Christine Hurd receives Honorable Mention for Successful Community Member of the Year for her spirit and determination to live independently in her community.

Christine is successful in business and in the community. She is a member of the Board of Directors at LEADERS Industries, a treasurer for People First of Albuquerque and is currently employed at the Hampton Inn.  She is fun to be around because of her great sense of humor and her laughter.  Christine is also a self-advocate who has a passion for helping others.  Work is very important to her and she values independence.

Christine lives in a nicely furnished two-bedroom home.  She says that she enjoys living independently because she doesn't have to "have people trying to force me to do stuff."  She visits her foster mother and family in Portales where she was raised and she especially likes Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  She attended college at Eastern New Mexico University until 1991.

Christine enjoys music, shopping, Internet surfing and traveling.  She is excellent at playing video games on her XBOX video game system.  She enjoys hanging out with her friends and she has a special place she likes to eat called Dragon Buffet.  She also likes to go to movies and critique them with her friends.  Christine is a valuable member of her community and a great role model for all.
