Full Community Inclusion, Successful Community Citizen of the Year

Betty King is a member of the Navajo tribe. Betty was involved in the community doing things like eating lunch at the local cultural center or enjoying the spa at the gym. However, Betty needed a way to begin to make deeper connections within her community. Betty has now started building these connections through giving back to others. She works with a local Chapter House to make sure that members of the Navajo Community who need help have fire-making materials to stay warm. Betty met the president of the Chapter House to help get started. She now creates “fire starters” that are balls of paper and delivers them to the Chapter House. Betty hopes to deliver the bags directly to the people who need them some day so she can make more friends. Because of all these efforts, Betty is a valued and successful community citizen.
