2010 DDSD Statewide Director’s Community Inclusion Awards
The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) honored the following individuals, community organizations and business for demonstrating excellence in Community Inclusion. Awards were given in the categories of business ownership, outstanding employee of a business owner, community based adult habilitation, individual community membership, team champions supporting individual community membership, full community inclusion, case manager employment champion, employee of the year and employer of the year.

2010 DDSD STATEWIDE DIRECTORS COMMUNITY INCLUSION AWARDS

Ms. Loretta Archuleta is the 2010 award winner for Employee of the Year.

Loretta has worked 15 years as a file clerk for Holy Cross Hospital. She files invoices in alphabetical or numerical order. If the file is too crowded, she lets her supervisor know and a larger file cabinet is ordered.

Loretta likes to be independent and prefers working with little or no assistance.

She is also computer literate and uses sign language to communicate. She’s taught job coaches sign language. Loretta is also proficient at lip reading. If she finds language is a barrier, she communicates in writing. She also uses the FDD phone.

Loretta has many co-workers who have become natural supports. She and her co-workers have developed friendships outside of work, too. In fact, she’s vacationed with a co-worker.

In addition to work, Loretta is involved with church and community.

She enjoys all types of adventures and is willing to try most things once.

She is supported by provider, Taos County Arc, and her Interdisciplinary Team.
