Welcome to the Strategic National Stockpile Program in New Mexico

New Mexico's Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) program relies on the coordination and collaboration of many partners. At the state level, planning is focused on receiving and distributing the SNS assets with the help of state agency partners like the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, New Mexico Department of Public Safety, New Mexico Department of Transportation, New Mexico National Guard, and New Mexico Board of Pharmacy. These agencies help support our operations by providing security, transportation, warehouse needs and overall planning. To view New Mexico's Medical Countermeasures (MCM) Plan, click here.

A major part of SNS planning is mass dispensing of medical countermeasures, known in New Mexico as Medical Countermeasure Operations. This enormous task is taken on by local communities and coordinated by the New Mexico Department of Health, Public Health Regional Offices throughout the State. Partners include local agencies like emergency management, law enforcement, tribal affiliates, fire, non-profit organizations, schools, local planning committees, hospitals, private contractors and many more. There are currently five Public Health Regions responsible for putting together Regional Countermeasure Distribution Plans.  Plans incorporate surrounding cities, towns and counties to ensure wide coverage for New Mexicans. What is SNS?

The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is a national repository of antibiotics, chemical antidotes, antitoxins, life-support medications, IV administration, airway maintenance supplies and medical/surgical items. The SNS is designed to rapidly supplement and re-supply local and state public health agencies in the event of a national public health emergency.

Twelve-hour Push Packages containing pharmaceuticals, antidotes and medical equipment are the first deployment of supplies. These Push Packages are positioned in strategically located, secure warehouses ready for immediate release within 12 hours of the federal decision to deploy SNS assets.
