
Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Program (BHPP)
The Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Program (BHPP) is funded by a $3.8 million federal grant. With this grant money, the Program has placed isolation and decontamination equipment in over 40 hospitals throughout the state and increased mass casualty response capacity for EMS providers.
The BHPP also works with the UNM Center for Disaster Medicine to increase response ability to large-scale health emergencies in New Mexico. As part of those efforts, both groups are co-sponsoring the 2005 Regional Training and Education Seminars. Each seminar is a three-day pre-conference and overview of the public and private partnerships enabling New Mexico to effectively mobilize resources and respond to future emergencies and disasters.
