(6 minutes) (2001)
A short, fast-paced music video that features current, local teen pregnancy statistics and the voices of DC teens. The teens express the message that adolescent boys and girls want and need to feel they are valued members of the community.

(9 minutes)
This tape covers information on prevention as well as treatment of the "silent STD".
Reviews possible symptoms in both sexes and explains that, if untreated, chlamydia can cause PID, scarring of the fallopian tubes, and infertility. Emphasizes that patients should take all medications as prescribed and not have sex until the infection is gone. Suggests use of a condom and spermicide as a preventive measure.

CIRCLE OF LIFE: WELLNESS AND SEXUALITY Planned Parenthood of Oklahoma
(11 minutes)

This award winning video, geared to Native American teens but appropriate for all groups, explores the issues of teen relationships, pregnancy and AIDS. It follows the story of a teenage couple who meet at a powwow. The young woman, Tomah, then faces the pain of that relationship ending and the possible consequences of having been sexually active. In this context, the video helps audiences personalize HIV transmission, teen pregnancy and HIV prevention, the challenges of teen parenthood and the importance of good decision-making in relationships.

Discusses the meaning of an abnormal pap smear. Explains that abnormalities may be caused by inflammation, infection, or the Human Papilloma Virus, and may not necessarily mean pre-cancerous cell changes. Shows how physician uses colposcope to closely examine the cervix and to take a biopsy, if necessary. Reassures patient that discomfort is no greater than experienced with a pap smear exam.

Intended for use as part of a larger, comprehensive sexuality education program. Designed to provide students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for discussing and negotiating either sexual abstinence or consistent and proper use of latex condoms. Discusses how to properly use a latex condom as part of responsible sexual behavior for those teens who are or will be sexually active.

Information on abstinence and contraceptive choices for teenagers. This fast-paced video combines animated segments where “Alex” goes on-line to learn more about his contraceptive options, with real teens discussing their choices and concerns about sexual activity and various birth control methods. The video covers the following methods of contraception: abstinence, condoms, birth control pills, depo-provera and norplant, emergency contraception and big myths.

The videos, "Mothers Too Soon" and "Fathers Too Soon" explore the lives of several teen parents. Each video provides a first-hand look at how a teen pregnancy impacts the lives of these teens, their children and families. The National Campaign provides a discussion guide created for each video to help program leaders, teachers, parents and young people explore in greater depth the issues raised in the videos.

Teens themselves describe - movingly and compassionately - the challenges of being a teen parent. The video intersperses their compelling stories with sobering statistics on the consequences of teen pregnancy. The Imagine video, which is suitable for adults and teens alike, is perfect for providing an overview of the teen pregnancy problem to an audience who may be unfamiliar with the topic (for instance, state legislators or a school board). Although more emotional than analytic, the video is also an excellent motivational tool for those already working on the issue.

LOVE AND FERTILITY (English and Spanish) Family of the Americas Foundation (1989)
Describes the new scientifically proven method, researched by Dr. John Billings, based on the simple recognition of natural signs of fertility that appear for a few days during the woman’s menstrual cycle.  By keeping accurate records, a woman can now confidently identify the fertile and infertile phases of her cycle.  Women with long or irregular cycles, breast-feeding mothers, and even those going through pre-menopause or after discontinuing artificial methods of family planning may use the Ovulation Method  safely and effectively.

Twenty sessions consisting of two major components: group sessions and personal information sessions.  Teen STARS’ process goals are: to provide a forum for teens to talk in groups and individually with a sexuality educator about personal concerns; and to create a positive peer support group which will carry on after the formal program has ended. Designed to increase family communication about sexuality by providing an opportunity for parents and children to get together and talk about sexuality. For parents and their children aged 9-12.  Includes: Teacher's Guide; Student activity sheets; and a video of teens talking about relevant topics.

 

TEEN ADVOCATE PROJECT MANUAL
Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, New York (1989)
A training manual for educators, health professionals, social workers-any professionals-in any agency or school who wish to implement a Teen Advocate/Peer Educator program with a focus on sexuality, puberty, values, decisions, communication, contraception, STDs, and more.

 

TEEN DADS RIGHTS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND JOYS
Morning Glory Press (2002)
A comprehensive curriculum focused for teen fathers who want to be an integral part of the birth and development of their child. This curriculum also focuses on the rights, responsibilities, and joys of being a father.  It is a guide for developing daily or weekly class sessions covering a total of 16 chapters. Includes: Teacher's Guide, Student activity sheets, and a teen guidebook.

TEEN TALK: An Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program
Program Archive on Sexuality, Health and Adolescence  (1998)
A collaborative school- and community health centers-based sex and contraception education intervention intended to reduce adolescent pregnancy.  A 12-15 hour program consisting of two large group lectures and four small group sessions.  Participation in the program was especially beneficial to males.

 

THE CHALLENGE OF TODDLERS: FOR TEEN PARENTS PARENTING YOUR CHILD FROM ONE TO THREE

A comprehensive curriculum for teen parents that helps them learn the art and skills of parenting infants and toddlers. These 14 chapters include; independence, playing, health & safety, partnership challenge, sleep, and the future of the parents & their toddler. Includes: Teacher's Guide, Student activity sheets, and a teen guidebook.

 

WHEN I’M GROWN: Life Planning Education for Grades K-2, Grades 3&4, Grades 5&6, and Grades 7-12
The Center for Population Options

A Youth Development Program consisting of 14 chapters, each with experiential activities.  The program integrates two major tasks of adolescents: preparing for the world of work and dealing with sexual and reproductive development, feelings and behaviors. 

 

WISE GUYS: Male Responsibility Curriculum
Family Life Council of Greater Greensboro (1999)
Designed for use with small groups of boys 10-19 years old, to prevent adolescent pregnancy by teaching young males self-responsibility in several areas, primarily in the area of sexual development. 

 

YOUR PREGNANCY AND NEWBORN JOURNEY
Morning Glory Press (1998)
A teaching manual for educators and teachers in a school-based or community setting focusing on the comprehensive special needs for teen pregnancy and parenting skills. This curriculum implements the “GRADS Competencies.” Includes: Teacher’s Guide; Student activity sheets, and a guidebook for teens.
